For many Italians August is summer “big break”, a time for “dolce far niente” when our brains (fingers crossed) rest and the body “breathes” again (unless you’re one of those sports devotees who’s always out and about in all temperatures).

It’s a gentle invitation to “doing nothing” and rest, to the cozy warmth of the heat, with the sweet buzz of cicadas in the background. At the same time, there’s a sense of anticipation for the shift in seasons, as nature prepares to transition into autumn.

But don’t be fooled by the apparent stillness. The market stalls are brimming with a profusion of fruits and vegetables, each bearing the vibrant hues and flavors of the season.

August is not without its own activities. It’s about finding that space where you can really tune in to your own needs, while having the freedom to sweat with elegance 😳 and to prepare something that tastes like summer, all without having to spend hours in the kitchen.
